Create a Channel

Now you get to create the channel by setting a few channel configurations. For example, like the name of your channel, the icon you want to display and, the URL where we can fetch your content feed.

Remember in this step, you are just creating a preview of the channel. So feel free to try out various formats and possible user experiences till you like what you see. You can even test the real user experience on your own phone. (See the next step.)

Create a new Channel

Click Create new channel on your Partner Account's home page. On the following page you need to enter all basic information that is required for a preview channel. Don't worry if you're undecided about anything at this stage: you may change every configuration later on, except the channel type. Finish this step by clicking Create channel.

Configure your Channel

Now you have created your first channel. This channel is in status “preview” which means you are able to test this channel on your phone (by using your Preview keys) but the channel is not yet public available.

Before you bring this channel to live, some more configuration is needed.

Required configuration:

  • Icon: Add an icon for your channel.
  • Source: Enter the URL that points to the KML feed on your server. (See Source Types.)

Recommended configuration:

  • Channel store categorization: Add your channel to one or two Channel Store categories to be found by users.
  • Channel store wording: Add a description that will be shown in the channel store. You may also want to add a name and a description for more languages.

Filtering & Sorting and Paused Message are advanced settings. You may play around with these settings, but there is no need to do so.

Your preview channel on your phone should get updated immediately. The Channel Store representation should get updated with a delay up to 15 minutes.

Publish your Channel

After configuring and testing, you are ready to publish your channel. (See Publish to Channel Store.)

Next, please continue with step 4: Preview a Channel >
