Channel item
Here is an example of a Channel item: “Market Street (San Francisco)” from the Wikipedia Channel.
Item Title
The Name of the item, here “Market Street (San Francisco)”
Description
Text that gives a short overview of the item. In our example, it's the text “Market Street is a major street and important thoroughfare in San Francisco....”
Image (optional)
The image near the description text is the item's image. (Here it shows Market Street.) The Wikipedia logo above it is the channel icon, which is shown on each item of this channel.
Distance / Location / Map
The distance displayed in the upper right corner (here “250 yd”) is the distance between the user's position and the location of the item. It also indicates the direction to the item. By clicking this button the user will be directed to a map view.
Item actions
After clicking on an item, the actions list is shown.
This item has three actions: Web Action, Map Action, and Send to a Friend Action. There are various supported action types. Each item may have a different number of actions. Even items without any action are allowed.
Web action
Brings user to the web page that is specified within this action.
- Default label is “Go to website” ("View listing details" in the picture on the right)*
- More than one per item possible.
Call action (not shown in the picture)
Opens the phone's call dialog with the phone number that is specified within this action.
- Default label is “Call”
- More than one per item possible.
Recommend action
Opens a dialog that allows the user to enter a recipient's email address.
- Default label is “Send to a friend” ("Tell a friend" in the picture on the right)*
- Just one per item possible.
- Pointer to a web action of the same item required. The URL of the specified web action will be included in the recommendation email.
*Custom label
All actions support a custom label that replaces the default label.
Main Deck
The Main Deck is the screen that comes up when the users starts the Aloqa application.
All channels that the user has subscribed to are visible on the Main Deck.
Each of these channels is represented by:
Channel Icon
An Image.
Channel Title
The name of the Channel.
Channel Store
The Channel Store lists all channels that are available in the region where the user is located. For example, the content of the Channel Store for U.S. users is different from that for users in Germany.
Channel logo
An image.
Channel title
The title, which is also shown on the Main Deck.
Channel description
Text that explains the channel in more detailed—for example, what the content of the channel is, what it is useful for, or something about the content source.
The description is only visible in the detailed channel view inside the Channel Store.
