As an option, a standalone version of MOTODEV Studio for Java ME – MOTODEV SDK for Java ME – designed for use with UEI-compliant IDEs such as NetBeans and JBuilder – is also available.

Basic Requirements
MOTODEV Studio Plug-in/SDK for Java ME is fully tested for compatibility with the following systems. Although MOTODEV Studio Plug-in/SDK for Java ME may be compatible with other systems, including 64-bit editions, Motorola offers support only for the systems described below.
Windows Host
- Microsoft® Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista x86 (32-bit)
- Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 or later
- QuickTime 7.1 or later is required for JSR 135 to play the following media types: .aac, .amr, .m4a, .mp3 and .mp4
- Java Card Development Toolkit 2.2.1 is required for the SIMConfig service
- Windows Media Player must be installed to execute the Metadata Control functionality when that functionality is used in a MIDlet.
- Motorola USB driver is required to use the MOTODEV Config Tool
Linux Host
- Ubuntu 8.04, SuSe Enterprise 10 SP2, Red Hat Enterprise 5.0, or Fedora 9.0 x86 (32-bit) distributions (using GNOME or KDE)
- Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.5 or later
Mac OS Host
- Mac OS 10.5.4 or higher
- 1.0 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM or more
- Approximately 2GB hard disk space
- Latest Java runtime environment, available through Software Update
- Latest XQuartz X11 Package for Mac OS 10.5.x
Installation
To install MOTODEV SDK for Java ME v3.0, you must download and run the installation file. You cannot update from version 1.x or 2.x to version 3.0 by using the built-in update management system.
To install MOTODEV Studio Plug-in for Java ME v3.0, you must first install and run Eclipse Pulsar. Then go to the Mobile SDKs view and double-click MOTODEV Studio.

After you install, use the update management system to check for updates regularly.
Updates
Updates to MOTODEV Studio products are only available via the built-in update management system. Updates are cumulative and include interim updates and patches. If you have already installed interim updates and patches, the new update will install only the new components.
Note: You cannot update from previous versions to MOTODEV Studio Plug-in/SDK for Java ME v3.0.
In MOTODEV Studio Plug-in/SDK for Java ME, the update feature is located under the Help/Software Updates menu.
