- Java SE Development Kit (JDK) version 1.5 or later
- Microsoft® Windows 2000 or Windows XP
- QuickTime 7.1 is required for JSR 135 to play the following media types: .aac, .amr, .m4a, .mp3 and .mp4
- Java Card Development Toolkit 2.2.1 is required for the SIMConfig service
- Windows Media Player must be installed to execute the Metadata Control functionality when that functionality is used in a MIDlet.
- Motorola USB driver is required to use the MOTODEV Config Tool
Parts of MOTODEV Studio for Java ME are based on unmodified Eclipse components available from Eclipse Foundation.
You may install MOTODEV Studio for Java ME by downloading and using the full installer, when available, or by updating a previously installed version. Installation takes only a few minutes. We recommend you read the install instructions for details on prerequisites, downloading, installing, updating, and uninstalling the software.
After you install, use the update management system to check for updates regularly.
To obtain the updates, you must at least have version 1.0 installed. Updates are cumulative and include interim updates and patches. If you have already installed interim updates and patches, the new update will install only the new components.
In MOTODEV Studio for Java ME, the update feature is located under the Help menu: Software Updates/Find and Install. In MOTODEV SDK for Java ME, Update Manager/Configuration is located under the Help menu. You may also want to set your update feature to check for updates automatically.
