The Lightweight Windowing Toolkit (LWT) is a Java™ ME Licensee Open Class (LOC) designed by Motorola to enhance the capabilities of the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). It defines new Java™ ME classes to implement Buttons, Checkboxes, Sliders, and other user interface widgets. These widgets let application programmers produce more powerful applications with more intuitive user interfaces while still keeping the size of the application as small as possible. They also reduce the amount of time needed to write these applications by providing a powerful set of extensible classes ready for use.

The LWT development tools provided here contain the class files and documentation needed to develop J2ME applications that use these features on LWT-enabled devices such as the A008. These tools do not allow LWT to be added to devices that do not already support it.
