In a fast-changing business environment, most office documents and websites are obsolete as soon as they are published. Documents consist of static data that was accurate before the document was published. Frequently that data is collected from others who are dealing with their own sets of static data. The problem is more difficult when data needs to be collected from different types of applications and documents. Businesses need a user-friendly method of dynamically linking data.

Datamash is a middleware technology layer that enables end users to easily connect data elements between different applications and documents so that when the content of a data element changes, all of the connected elements change automatically. Setting up a connection is simple and intuitive, using a process similar to "copy and paste" in word processing documents. Datamash supports connections between common applications such as Microsoft Excel and web pages, and will add support for many more applications in the coming months. Using, for example, a Datamash-enabled application on a handheld device, users change they way they interact with shared data, moving from storage in static documents to dynamically updated personal applications. In an Internet-based world, there is no reason to make decisions based on obsolete data. Datamash seamlessly brings the concept of "always-on" to documents and reports.

Datamash offers developers a free SDK that provides a simple and quick way to bring data structures of various applications into the "Datamashed World." This then allows developers to let their customers connect data from one application to any of the other applications supported by Datamash.

Data is transferred from a publish data element to a subscribe data element through a Datamash Server. The server keeps track of the location of the users, logs the changes, and tracks the number of transfers each user makes. Datamash bills users or developers based on the amount of traffic passing through the server. There is no charge for low traffic users.

Datamash's free SDK contains the code snippets and protocols needed to communicate with Datamash servers. Nothing else is required if developers want Datamash to bill their users. If the developer wishes to offer the service transparently, a license or revenue sharing agreement with Datamash is required.
