Motorola continues its support of the Unified Testing Initiative with this month's addition of three key products to the Java Verified testing and signing program. Each of the three handsets – the RAZR V3x, SLVR and V3i – runs a JavaME environment with a MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.1 kVM.
Upon completion of testing, applications that successfully pass testing are digitally signed and returned to the developer via email from the Java Verified Program office. With this signature, developers can install their JavaME MIDlet into the Trusted Third Party domain (TTP) of a Motorola handset carrying the UTI Root Certificate.
Test your applications and get your digital signature today at http://www.javaverified.com.
The UID extraction tool provides several utilities for developers creating applications for Motorola OS Products. This newly updated tool enables:
- KDWP (on-device debugging), which allows developers to debug MIDlets while it runs on a device
- JAL (Java application loader), which makes it possible to download MIDlets to compatible Motorola OS products via a USB cable
This new release still provides the same UID and IMEI extraction features from version 1.0.
This article introduces some basic concepts in J2ME Web services and shows some limitations compared to standard J2SE JAXP and JAX-RPC. Also detailed is the construction of a little J2ME Web services application using the Motorola SDK, SUN WTK2.2 stub generator and Apache Axis.
User-Agent Profile (UAProf) is a standard developed by W3C and OMA to identify device and user preference information in a general framework. This article explains UAProf and user-agent strings, and the information about clients developers can gather from them.
This article shows how Key and Pointer events are captured via a sample application that makes use of the Canvas class, which is typically used for interactive game applications. An attached application demonstrates how to implement one method from both the Key and Pointer event types.
The newly updated iDEN SDK for i580 is now available for download on MOTODEV. This SDK, which supports the building and emulation of J2ME applications for the iDEN (integrated digital enhanced network) platform, provides developers with J2ME platform APIs and iDEN extensions of J2ME-enabled handsets.
For more detailed information on the i580, please refer to the i580 device details page.
Using this tool, a developer can provision a Windows Mobile device with different configurations and then test the application's behavior under these configurations. Developed by Microsoft, this tool can be used either on an emulator or on an unlocked Windows Mobile device.
