1. What is the Horizon Program?

Motorola has created the Horizon Developers Program to support Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) in the design and implementation of Interactive TV solutions for services such as Interactive Program Guides, Video On Demand systems, Personal Video Recorders, targeted advertising, gaming, email and commerce applications to create additional cash flow and decrease customer churn for Operators.

Following the Horizon process, Independent Software Vendors work closely with Motorola's engineering team during a new application's design, development, and validation phases to reduce time to market and improve reliability of fielded solutions.

2. What are the requirements to participate in the Horizon Program?

The Motorola Horizon Program engages with ISVs based primarily on significant interest from our customers, how innovative the application is, the technical feasibility of the application running in Motorola's interactive network, and the overall business case.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Currently, Motorola and the Horizon program team are not issuing new developer licenses, Developer Agreements or documentation for our existing line of DCT, DCH and QIP settops. However, developers will be able to take advantage of Motorola's OCAP platform starting in early 2008. Details will be posted on the MOTODEV website as they become available.

4. What is OCAP?

The Open Cable Applications Platform (OCAP™) Solution is a set of specifications for middleware and content authoring tools that allows providers and developers to launch digital services on a variety of digital devices. Applications-such as a programming guide-run above the middleware, and operating systems function below the middleware. The Motorola OCAP™ software stack is designed from the ground up, and is not layered on existing code deployed in current-generation platforms. This enables Motorola to provide a middleware stack that provides superior performance, portability, and extensibility.

You can read more about Motorola's OCAP solution at broadband.motorola.com.
