The EM400 mobile radio includes several features to enhance performance, including 32 channels, an 8-character alphanumeric display, PTT-ID (transmission and reception), selective radio inhibit, dual priority scan, 4 programmable buttons, internal VOX, and other features. This radio also supports an interface that allows third-party developers to create applications that run on a separate option board to control, modify or expand the functionality of the radio.
